I am sneaking this in right under the wire. Please pardon the poor photo quality. Rushing to take photos is not recommended. It was so big I couldn't find a place to photograph it in time for the linkup over at
Melissa's blog so moving furniture in the family room was required. I will update with better photos when the quilt is quilted and bound. This one is definitely not going into the UFO pile.
I am so happy I have finally finished this huge
Summer Solstice quilt from Melissa's pattern and quilt-a-long. I was going to add sashing and a border to it but realized it was gigantic with just the blocks and also because it wouldn't look as scrappy as I had intended for the quilt to be so I left out the sashing and borders. My layout is a 4x4 which is 96" square. I love the pattern and all but this required so much pinning because of all the points. I wanted to make sure I match them up as best I can so I was pinning like a mad woman.
If you would like to make this pattern, the instructions are very easy to read and great photos.

Indeed, right under the wire!!! Looks amazing!!! So glad you got it all sewn up ;) Way to go, I know that was a ton of piecing ;) Great job, it is just gorgeous and thanks so much for quilting along with me ;)
This is gorgeous! I love all of the different fabrics you used -- they look great together. :)
I love it!!! This is a beautiful quilt. No sashing or border needed at all. Can't wait to see it quilted and bound.
Beautiful Kim!
It turned out beautifully! I think you're right about leaving the sashing off to create the scrappy look you were after.
Great job, it looks beautiful :)
Your quilt turned out great!
Oh my gosh Kim, this is just GORGEOUS! I love the fabrics & their colours, & what a big size it is, too! It's a great pattern. Can't wait to see it all quilted & bound, well done xx
