Over the weekend I sat down and worked on my Good Night Irene QAL blocks while I watched some tv shows. At first I couldn't decide what fabrics to use since I am working from my stash. I was going to use up my scraps, but then it was a bit daunting because I did not have them sorted by colors. They're pretty much placed neatly in my drawers as soon as I was done with a project that way I can sort them at a later date. Well, you know how that goes. I went and looked in my cabinet again and was going to use charm squares, changed my mind again. BTW… 86 charm squares = 344 - 2 1/2" squares. I am pretty sure my math is correct, just in case some of you were going to use your charm packs.
I then remembered that I had a bunch of 2 1/2" strips from Amy Butler's Lark collection in one of my drawers so off I went to retrieve them and use for this project.
I am using Kona Cotton in white for the X blocks. I was so tempted to sew all these 2 1/2" strips together then cut them into 2 1/2" sections but decided to cut them into squares instead.
As I was working on the X blocks, and having to trim off the excess, I stitched a 1/2" away from the first stitching line and made tiny little half square triangles instead of throwing away the trimming.
Here they are, so small and so pretty. I just love these colors. I placed them nice and neatly in a jar so I won't lose them :-)
I made two X blocks and three 16 - patch blocks.
Now I have a total of five I needed to make for this month's QAL. The ladies in this QAL have made up lots of pretty blocks so head on over to Terry's blog and click on the links on the sidebar to see them. You won't be disappointed.
