Simply Retro Playground QAL

I wasn't going to do any other quilts until I finish some more of my UFOs, but as I was looking through my fabric drawer I came across a pack of layer cakes from Sweetwater's Noteworthy line for Moda fabrics. I had been wanting to make a gift for someone special (person revealed later ;-D) but couldn't decide on fabrics until I saw the layer cake and all the words and phrases on them.

I sat down and cut up the layer cakes into quarters so they would become perfect little charm packs. Then I finished cutting all the background fabrics that was when I made a mistake and wasn't minding my cutting. Instead of cutting the long rectangle pieces I was thinking squares. What to do? I called DH and asked him to pick up just enough fabric for me to replace my mistake. He was busy helping a friend but off he went to the store then went back to his friend's house. What a guy :-)
I couldn't have finish the quilt top as quickly as  I did without his help.
OOPS! as I was typing up this post and looking at the picture of the quilt top, I found a teeny tiny mistake. Good thing it's simple to undo and before I had the whole thing quilted.

I am hoping to get the quilting and binding done over the next few days.

Head on over to Jana's blog and join in the Simply Retro QAL.

I found the mistake! At least it's at the edge, easy fix! That pattern and fabric collection go so well together, I'm sure it will be a really nice gift to receive.

Beautiful quilt and what a guy to go get the fabric for you! I saw the mistake in the corner, isn't it amazing how you can see them in photos....happens to me all the time. Thanks for sharing.
